Bought one from Crutchfield!
« on: August 25, 2013, 09:34:15 PM »
I have always tried to avoid Crutchfield because I thought their prices were high but when I ordered my Smart from them, it shipped same day for free. I don't have it yet, but the tracking says it will be here tomorrow. They also sent me everything I am going to need to install it including a PDF file in my email showing me how to take my car apart to install it. With all of that, and the level of satisfaction everyone seems to have with them, I am now thinking that they may be the way to buy.

I have already set a space on my desk aside to connect it inside to root it and load my apps onto it. I'll take some shots of it during the unboxing and try to capture some of the root and Google Play store installation. I will also upload the files I use to make sure the right ones are available as a single zip file. I am excited to start playing with it.

I have a 10 amp 12 volt power supply. You tie the red and yellow wires together and connect them to the supply's positive and the heavy black wire to the negative.

I had CoPilot live, Mycast weather, and several other GPS based apps running. GPS works great... Even inside the house. It is fast to sync and lock on the satellites. I will mount the GPS antenna inside the dash, provided I can find a spot where there isn't any metal to obstruct the signal.
