Google Play Issues (Iíve posted this on several forums)
« on: October 21, 2013, 08:07:19 PM »
My Google Play ďMarketĒ wonít download.  Have any of you had this issue and did you get it fixed.  In retrospect I think this started with the latest Parrot update 2.1.2.  When I upgraded to the latest firmware my Google Play quit working.  I reinstalled all the Google Play Market software and Market (icon says Market) was working again.

Hereís whatís happening with my unit.  If I press the Market button, Google Play comes up.  Intermittently the screen comes up that says process com.android.vending not working, force shut down (this usually happens the first time I bring up any particular day).  I force the shut down then press Market and Google Play comes up again and does not crash.  All of my existing apps that I have installed through Google Play are shown on ďmy appsĒ.  If I attempt to download anything new or do an update, Google Play brings up the downloading indication with the bar, but nothing ever is downloaded, it just sits there with the status bar up.  If I install the latest Google Play through Aptoide, Google Play crashes.  By the way, anything I install via Aptoide or Asteroid Market loads perfectly.  A member from XDA Developers suggests I need to update the Google Play vending file but the one Iíve tried is not the correct one.  At this point I canít get it to update through Google Play.

I have completely removed all files associated with Google Play, rebooted and then reinstalled in the proper order with the correct permissions, and I have my unit rooted and I have Super Permissions installed.  The vending file I have is from the Parrot Asteroid Users forum.  Iím assuming many users have updated to 2.1.2 and Google Play is working properly, if so maybe someone could post their vending file or if Iím off base other files and or solutions.  Thanks in advance.

I would first do a factory reset on the device to bring it back to the stock state and then follow the instructions on this forum (http://asteroid.doisara.com/rooting-and-sideloading-apps/rooting-sideloading-and-android-market).  Be sure to use only the files attached to the post, not stuff found on other forums.  As an addendum, the  version of the store that's included here is the old Android Market, not the Play Store.  To quickly upgrade, you can download the latest Play Store from AP (http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/10/21/download-latest-google-play-store-4-4-21-with-slide-out-navigation/).  You *MIGHT* be able to get away with using the new apk instead of the included one, but for safety/consistency,  I installed the new apk AFTER I completed all the steps in Moogvo's guide.  It asked if I wanted to install the Play Store over the Market and everything has worked fine from there.

Donaldta from XDA posted a link to a newer version of vending.apk version 3.3.1. I installed this version, set it up and Google Play now works perfectly.  Thanks for help.

Heh, seems people don't want the latest and greatest from the start. But either way, as long as you can get to 4.4.21 I guess it doesn't really matter.  I personally would just install the latest that i lniked to by Android Police.  Then you don't have to install Market and THEN upgrade to the latest Play Store; you'd already just have it.

The problem is it may not be compatible with our Parrots.  Every time I upgraded to the latest version my system would crash.  This particular vending.apk 3.1.11 works and then immediately updated itself.  In any event I'm up and running again.  I was going to try yours next.
